Biography

Valeria Andreis (Monza, 1995) is now attending an MA in Painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where she graduated with honors in 2018 (BA in Painting). Part of her studies has taken place at Camberwell College of Arts (UAL), London thanks to an Erasmus+ scholarship. Andreis' work comes from the need to express the feeling of loss in the contemporary age.

With a look at holy art from the past, she tries to find again the origin of the motivation to build a collective culture, something we have lost in the last century. Immersed classical statues bring to mind two images in particular: icebergs melting, metaphor of the dissolution of the cultural identity of the contemporary man; and taxidermy cases that keep specimens under formalin in zoology museums, shells that no longer host life.
